Director of IT

Lockard & Wechsler is looking for an IT Director to join our team. We’re looking for a collaborative, dynamic individual to lead our infrastructure team in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our agency’s IT systems. This role is vital to ensuring that our attribution, proprietary systems, and account teams can operate efficiently and securely in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Direct reports include developers (as assigned), senior infrastructure engineers, systems administrators (junior and senior), and help desk staff.

We want a forward-thinking leader with deep expertise in systems infrastructure and cybersecurity protocols. This individual will also be responsible for team leadership, vendor management, technology planning, and enforcing best practices across the organization’s technical operations. We need someone with a deep understanding of current and evolving infrastructure security and cybersecurity best practices and policies.

Please note this role is onsite in Irvington, New York. At this time, we are prioritizing candidates who can reliably commute to our location.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Strategy and Management
• Develop and execute the IT infrastructure roadmap in alignment with business goals.
• Oversee the agency’s network architecture, cloud services, and on-premise hardware/software systems.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of infrastructure systems.
• Continually upgrade, maintain, and evaluate agency tech stack: Experience with components of our tech stack: Windows OS, Mac OS, Google Workspace, Citrix, VMWare, Veeam, Office 365, Active Directory, Azure, AWS, Splunk, Jira, Mosyle, and FileMaker.
• Oversee servers and back up systems.
• Management and ownership of infrastructure projects from design to implementation to evaluation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to manage the design, development, integration, and optimization of proprietary agency systems.
• Coordinate cross-departmental needs for custom database solutions.
• Maintain and troubleshoot systems to ensure reliability and performance.

Cybersecurity and Compliance

• Design and implement cybersecurity policies to protect company assets, intellectual property, and client data.
• Manage risk assessments, vulnerability management, and compliance audits (e.g., SOC2, GDPR, etc.).
• Oversee endpoint protection, firewall configurations, intrusion detection, and incident response protocols.

Operational and Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of infrastructure and system administrators, developers, and support staff.
• Collaborate with creative and operations leadership to understand workflows and technical needs.
• Manage third-party vendors, service contracts, and infrastructure budgets.
• Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
• Maintain robust disaster recovery plans and perform regular system backups and tests.
• Ensure minimal downtime and rapid restoration capabilities in case of disruptions.

Interpersonal Skills

• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, internal and external.
• Strong ability to prioritize.
• Superior communication skills. Ability to work with internal systems teams and non-technical teams seamlessly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, preferred.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven expertise in network architecture, server and cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Strong working knowledge of key technologies: Windows/Mac OS, Google Workspace, Office 365, Citrix, VMWare, Azure, AWS, Veeam, Splunk, Active Directory, Jira, and FileMaker.
• Experience managing disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Experience deploying and adapting systems to enhance security.
• Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOC2, GDPR, and other data protection regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, prioritize initiatives, and drive cross-functional collaboration.
• Superior project management skills with a proven track record of timely deliverables.
• Experience managing budgets and vendor relations.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, vendor management, and interpersonal skills.

Benefits

Our estimated salary range for this role is $150,000 to $180,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on the skill level and experience each candidate brings to their role.
